Thompson Returns to Action at CAS

After seeing his flight canceled, Cody Thompson made the decision to race another weekend at Central Arizona Speedway. Action resumed on Friday night at the desert oval, and Cody began his night by advancing from fourth-to-second in his heat race to lock into the 11th-starting spot for the feature.

In the main event, he passed eight cars to finish third behind Don Shaw and Matt Aukland with Devin Fouquette and Spencer Wilson rounding out the Top-5 finishers.

Thirty-five IMCA Modified competitors entered Saturday’s program, and Cody passed five cars to finish fourth in his heat race. His performance in his heat left him short of locking into the feature, so he was relegated to a B-Main. A win in the B-Main earned him the 13th-starting spot for the 25-lap feature, where he advanced to an eighth-place finish.

The three-race weekend drew to a close on Sunday evening at Canyon Speedway Park (Peoria, Ariz.). With 20 competitors in action, Cody started fifth in the 25-lap feature before finishing fourth behind Chaz Baca, Matt Aukland, and Zachary Madrid.
