Thompson competes in Mason City lid lifter
Sunday marked Cody Thompson's maiden voyage to Mason City Motor Speedway, where he participated in the USRA Modified division during the season opener at the Iowa track.
With 20 Modifieds in the pit area at the 1/3-mile oval, Thompson won one of three heat races to start second in the 25-lap A-Main paying $1,500 to win.
Despite a strong start, Thompson ran into trouble just past halfway and recorded a 17th-place result with a DNF.
