Thompson begins season with 4th-place finish in Texas Showdown

Cody Thompson kicked off his 2025 campaign on the first weekend in February with the $10,000-to-win Texas Showdown at I-37 Speedway. He was part of a 49-car IMCA Modified field at the quarter-mile track in Pleasanton, Texas, and grabbed a strong top-five feature result.

The event, originally slated for early December, finally saw its first competitive green flag on Saturday. Thompson began his evening with a seventh-to-second charge in his heat race aboard his No. 25c Modified. He went on to start from the front row in his 15-lap qualifier and grabbed the win after leading all but the first circuit.

On Sunday, Thompson rolled off sixth in the 40-lap main event and came home fourth, taking the checkered flag behind Jordan Grabouski, Izac Mallicoat and Trevor Fitz. Garrett Gregory rounded out the top five.
