Podium finish for Thompson at Iowa Spring Nationals
A trip to Spencer, Iowa’s Clay County Fair Speedway was on the docket for Cody Thompson over the weekend. On Friday night, he finished third in the IMCA Modified division aboard his Thompson Industrial Services & Solutions No. 25c ride.
Friday’s $1,000-to-win Iowa Spring Nationals program brought 14 Modifieds to the 3/8-mile track, where Thompson turned in a fourth-to-second run in his heat race. He began the 20-lap feature from the fifth spot and climbed two positions to claim the third-place result. He took the checkered flag behind Chaz Baca and Kelly Shryock, with Tom Berry Jr. taking fourth and Jesse Dennis finishing fifth.
Saturday’s scheduled $2,000-to-win Iowa Spring Nationals finale was canceled due to inclement weather.
