Cody Thompson continues season at IMCA Summer Nationals
To kick off the month of June, Cody Thompson raced among fields of more than 30 IMCA Modifieds from Monday through Wednesday in the IMCA Summer Nationals at Spencer, Iowa’s 3/8-mile Clay County Fair Speedway.
On Monday, Thompson could not transfer into the night’s main event through his heat race in his Tri-State Coatings No. 25c Modified, but he finished fifth in the B-Main to start 23rd in the $1,000-to-win feature. He advanced nine positions in the 20-lapper for a 14th-place result.
After a rainout the following night, Thompson returned to the track on Wednesday seeking the night’s $4,000 winner’s share. He was again unable to transfer through his heat, however, he took the checkered flag in his consolation race to begin the 30-lap A-Main from the 22nd position. He climbed 10 spots in the race and finished 12th.
