Cody Thompson finishes 2nd in XR Big Deal B-Mod feature at Ogilvie
A trip to Ogilvie (Minnesota) Raceway for the $25,000-to-win B-Mod portion of the XR Big Deal was on Cody Thompson's calendar during the last weekend in July. He earned the runner-up spot in the main event and pocketed $10,000 for his efforts in his first visit to the track.
On Friday, an impressive 82 B-Mods were in the pit area at the 3/8-mile oval as competition got underway. Thompson qualified his No. 25c ride with the third-quickest time in his group and went from third to second in his heat. With the result, he locked himself into Saturday’s main event.
Thompson started seventh in the 40-lap feature and moved into second with seven laps to go. He remained in the position for the remainder of the race, crossing the start-finish line 0.924 seconds behind winner Aaron Johnson. Ethan Braaksma took third, with Rodney Sanders and Gabe Hodges completing the top five.
