Cody Thompson lands in Late Model top 10 at Worthington and Boone County
Competing in two different Late Model classes over the weekend, Cody Thompson earned a pair of top-10 results in Minnesota and Nebraska.
On Saturday, Thompson drove his North Ridge Excavating No. 7 ride in a 23-car field at Worthington (Minnesota) Speedway with the Tri-State Late Model Series. To begin the Turkey Town Throwdown, he qualified fourth in his group on the quarter-mile oval and was fifth in his heat race, despite being unable to finish. He started 20th in the 25-lap, $2,000-to-win feature and steered to an eighth-place result, earning the Kibble Equipment Hard Charger award.
Sunday saw Thompson venture to Albion, Nebraska’s Boone County Speedway, where he was one of 40 IMCA Late Model competitors at the Ray Haase Memorial. He opened his evening by turning in the fifth-quickest time in his group at the 3/8-mile speed plant. He then took fifth in his heat and won his B-Main to earn a spot in the $8,502-to-win feature. He rolled off from the 16th starting position in the 35-lap race and finished 10th.
