Thompson gobbles up Turkey Challenge victory at Park Jefferson

Cody Thompson bested a 17-car IMCA Modified field at Park Jefferson Speedway on Saturday to score the win in the Turkey Challenge -- the track’s final event of 2024.

Thompson kicked off the program at the quarter-mile oval in Jefferson, South Dakota, with a fourth-to-second run in his heat race aboard his Team Harris Auto Racing No. 25c Modified. He started sixth in the 20-lap, $750-to-win feature and grabbed the top spot in lapped traffic with just two circuits remaining. He took the win 0.744 seconds ahead of Chris Abelson, with Shane DeMey, Matt Bonine and Ricky Stephan completing the top five.

Thompson’s victory was his fourth feature triumph overall in 2024. He also claimed 19 top-five finishes and 24 top-10s during the season.
