Harvest Hustle completes Thompson’s October racing slate
During the last weekend in October, Cody Thompson was part of a 50-car IMCA Modified field at the quarter-mile Marshalltown (Iowa) Speedway, where a $4,000 first-place prize was on offer in the Harvest Hustle on the High Banks.
On Friday, Thompson took ninth with a DNF in his first heat race and finished fifth in his second aboard his Tri-State Coatings No. 25c machine. As a result, he was forced to battle to make the main event the next day.
Saturday saw Thompson finish third in his Last Chance Heat Race and claim the runner-up spot in his Last Chance Qualifier. He began the 25-lap feature from 20th on the grid and took the checkered flag in 18th place.
The Karl Chevrolet Pro Late Model Tour was also part of the festivities at Marshalltown on Saturday. Twenty-three cars were entered for the $3,000-to-win program, including Thompson in the No. 76c ride. He was unable to finish his heat and did not start the 30-lap main event.
